How to Connect and Control Your Haozhiseng Audio DSP Plate Amplifier from a PC: USB & RS-485 Step-by-Step Guide

Active loudspeakers and powered line-array systems are increasingly popular because they simplify system wiring, reduce the need for external amplifier racks, and make setup faster and more convenient.

This guide explains how to connect and control a Haozhiseng Audio DSP plate amplifier from a Windows PC using either USB or RS-485.

Important: This guide covers the DSP control connection only. Installation and mains-power wiring must be completed by qualified personnel according to the product manual and local electrical regulations.

The download page may use the name “RJ485 Driver,” while the communication standard is normally referred to as RS-485.

After downloading the files:

  1. Extract the ZIP package.
  2. Install the DSP control software.
  3. Install the RS-485 driver if you plan to use RS-485 communication.
  4. Restart the computer if requested by the installer.

Connection Methods: USB or RS-485

Haozhiseng Audio DSP plate amplifier modules can normally be controlled using one of two connection methods.

USB Connection

USB is the simplest option for configuring one amplifier module at a time.

It is suitable for:

  • Initial DSP setup
  • Factory programming
  • Individual speaker adjustment
  • Preset loading and saving
  • Testing one amplifier module

RS-485 Connection

RS-485 is recommended when you need:

  • Longer control distances
  • More stable communication in professional installations
  • Control of multiple amplifier modules
  • Factory batch programming
  • System monitoring from one PC
  • Daisy-chain communication between several powered speakers

A standard RJ45 network-style cable may be used for the RS-485 connection when it follows the required Haozhiseng pin configuration. This is an RS-485 data connection, not a standard Ethernet network connection. Do not connect the amplifier’s RS-485 port directly to a router or network switch.

Method 1: Connect One Plate Amplifier to a PC via USB

What You Need

  • A Windows PC
  • Haozhiseng Audio DSP control software
  • A compatible USB cable
  • One Haozhiseng Audio DSP plate amplifier module

Step 1: Install the DSP Software

Download and install the correct plate amplifier DSP software from the official Haozhiseng Audio Download Center.

Make sure the software version is compatible with your amplifier module.

Step 2: Connect the USB Cable

Connect one end of the USB cable to the amplifier module’s USB control port and the other end to the PC.

Step 3: Power On the Amplifier Module

After confirming that the amplifier module is correctly installed and connected, switch on the amplifier.

Wait a few seconds for the PC to recognize the device.

Step 4: Open the DSP Software

Launch the DSP control software and select USB as the connection method.

When the connection is successful, the software connection indicator should change from:

  • Red: Disconnected
  • Green: Connected

You can now view and adjust the available DSP parameters.

Method 2: Connect One Plate Amplifier to a PC via RS-485

What You Need

  • A Windows PC
  • Haozhiseng Audio DSP software
  • Haozhiseng Audio RS-485 driver
  • A compatible USB-to-RS-485 adapter
  • A compatible RJ45 cable
  • One DSP plate amplifier module

Step 1: Install the RS-485 Driver

Download and install the H-Series Plate Modules & DSP Amplifier RJ485 Driver from the official download page.

Connect the USB-to-RS-485 adapter to the computer after installing the driver.

Step 2: Check the COM Port

Open Windows Device Manager and locate the USB-to-RS-485 adapter under Ports (COM & LPT).

Note the assigned COM-port number, such as:

  • COM3
  • COM4
  • COM5

The available COM port may also be detected automatically by the DSP software.

Step 3: Connect the Amplifier Module

Connect the system in the following order:

Amplifier RS-485 Port → RJ45 Cable → USB-to-RS-485 Adapter → PC USB Port

Do not connect the RS-485 port to a router or standard Ethernet network.

Step 4: Select RS-485 Mode

Open the DSP software and select RS-485 as the communication method.

Then select:

  • The COM port assigned to the adapter
  • The Device ID of the amplifier module you want to control

Step 5: Confirm the Connection

When communication is established successfully, the status indicator should change from red to green.

You can then adjust the DSP parameters and save the configuration to the amplifier module.

Method 3: Connect Multiple Plate Amplifiers via RS-485

RS-485 allows several compatible amplifier modules to be controlled from one PC.

This is useful for:

  • Powered line-array systems
  • Multi-speaker installations
  • Factory batch configuration
  • Rental systems
  • Large active PA systems
  • Multiple powered subwoofers

Step 1: Assign a Unique Device ID

Before connecting multiple amplifier modules, connect and configure each module individually.

Every module must have a different Device ID.

For example:

Important: Duplicate Device IDs may cause connection conflicts or prevent the software from identifying the correct amplifier module.

Open the software configuration page, enter a unique Device ID, and save the setting to each amplifier before creating the multi-module connection.

Step 2: Connect the Modules

Use the RS-485 input and link ports to connect the compatible amplifier modules in sequence.

The connection path is generally:

PC → USB-to-RS-485 Adapter → Module 1 → Module 2 → Module 3

Follow the wiring and pin-configuration information supplied with your amplifier model.

Step 3: Open the DSP Software

Launch the software and select:

  1. RS-485 communication mode
  2. The correct PC COM port
  3. The Device ID of the amplifier you want to control

You can then select and configure each connected amplifier module individually.

Troubleshooting Common Connection Problems

The Software Shows “Disconnected”

Check the following:

  • The amplifier module is powered on.
  • The USB or RS-485 cable is connected securely.
  • The correct software version is installed.
  • The correct USB or RS-485 mode is selected.
  • The correct COM port is selected.
  • The USB-to-RS-485 driver is installed.
  • The Device ID matches the connected amplifier.
  • No two amplifiers use the same Device ID.
  • The RJ45 cable follows the required RS-485 pin configuration.

The COM Port Does Not Appear

Try these solutions:

  1. Disconnect and reconnect the USB-to-RS-485 adapter.
  2. Try another USB port.
  3. Reinstall the RS-485 driver.
  4. Check Windows Device Manager.
  5. Restart the computer.
  6. Avoid using an unpowered USB hub.

The Software Connects to the Wrong Amplifier

Check the Device ID assigned to every module. Each amplifier in an RS-485 chain must use a unique ID.

DSP Settings Cannot Be Saved

Confirm that:

  • The software is connected to the correct device.
  • The correct Device ID is selected.
  • The amplifier is not muted or disconnected during saving.
  • You are using the correct software for that DSP module.
  • The configuration is saved to the device, not only to the PC.
